About me
I'm Deryana Dhuzent, a Mexican multidisciplinary artist based in Vancouver. Art has always been my therapy—a way to express my feelings, dreams, pain, and healing process. I'm excited to share my art and continue making a difference.
MY JOURNEY
I began my journey as an international student at VFS, studying video game development in 2020 during the COVID-19 pandemic. Despite graduating, visa delays and personal hardships made it difficult to find work in my field, leading to frustration and depression. Art became my therapeutic outlet, allowing me to process my experiences and express my emotions.
INFLUENCES & THEMES
Struggling with suicidal thoughts and toxic relationships, I found strength through ongoing treatment. My work often reflects hope and healing, drawing from my experiences with trauma and recovery. I advocate for mental health awareness, equality, and an end to violence. My art serves as a powerful tool for healing and advocacy, inspiring others facing similar struggles.
COMMUNITY AND SUPPORT
Finding Employ to Empower was a turning point, helping me turn my passion into a business. Support from nonprofits and generous individuals on Ko-fi enabled me to grow my art business and set roots in Vancouver. Participating in community projects through Make-It art group, I contributed to murals and art shows, furthering my career as an artist.
